Carl Wilson's article on "faux-test" music discusses among other things, the difference between the lyrics and the video to Kanye West's single "Diamonds From Sierra Leone." While the remix and the video address the issue of "conflict diamonds" head-on the lyrics of the song itself don't address the issue at all.
While Kanye gets the attention, Philly MC Baby Blak broached the same topic on his a couple of years back (as did the UK's Ms. Dynamite) and obviously didn't get anywhere near the same attention that Kanye is receiving. While it may be less contradictory, it does address the situation in a much more cohesive manner.
