Flashing Lights
Toronto-based singer Colin Munroe's take on Kanye West's "Flashing Lights" has been causing a bit of a buzz in the past few days and with good reason. It's not just a version featuring Munroe singing over the instrumental, it's obviously a re-arranged and re-recorded version of the song that puts Munroe's own twist on the original. Not only does it use one of West's best tracks on Graduation, but the video kind of swagger jacks The Verve's "Bittersweet Symphony" (which basically copied Massive Attack's "Unfinished Sympathy" video anyway.)
Still, any reason to hear the intro of "Flashing Lights" alone is a good one in my book. Toronto heads will notice the flashing lights at the end are coming from the video screens at Yonge and Dundas.
