4Kenya

In response to the recent violence and political unrest in Kenya, Toronto hip-hop artist and poet Kamau has decided to hold a fundraiser next week at the Gladstone Hotel in Toronto. All of the money raised at the January 23rd event will go directly to food, clothes and emergency shelter for the people of the slums of Nairobi.

Apparently, as the attention dedicated to the story of the fallout from the elections has decreased, the need for the basics of food and shelter have increased.

Kamau spent a month in Kenya in early 2007 and his blog features some vivid and insightful testimony from friends he made while there about the current situation in the country.
