Chaka Khan: Every Woman

Been a little busy around these parts, so busy in fact that the people over at Toronto Fusicology managed to post about my recent cover story on the legendary Chaka Khan before I did. (Good looking, Kendall.)

Anyway, as I say in the Sway article, Chaka Khan was very gracious and down-to-earth during our interview which took place around the release of her latest album Funk This, a couple of months back.

As an aside, since the article hit the streets, Chaka Khan got a Grammy nomination for the album and while she has scooped a few of those in her career before I had to say I was intrigued by her accompanying R&B nominees. Nods to the likes of Emily King, Vikter Duplaix, Dwele and Ledisi, whom Khan praised in my interview, shows a favouring to more underground artists than usual in my unscientific opinion. It'll be interesting to see if this is more than lip service when the awards are actually handed out.
