Get de Clive-Lowe

Good times at the Mark de Clive-Lowe show at Supermarket on Friday night.
After a couple of ladies bumrushed the stage for a session of drunken interpretive dance while MdCL was spinning, it was finally safe for Bembe Segue to come out and do her thing.
The first track she did off de Clive-Lowe's excellent Tide's Arising album was "State of the Mental", which is the current single.
Here's the Phuturistic remix.
But the clear favourite performance of the crowd was the track "Heaven" and rightfully so.
On the decks MdCL kept things purely on the broken beat tip all night, but he did drop into Omar's "It's So" as well as Bob James' all-time classic "Nautilus".
Gospel artist Tye Tribbett's James Poyser-produced "Mighty Long Way" also got a great reaction no doubt benefitting from being rinsed by the likes of Gilles P and Benji B earlier in the year.
In the future it looks like Bembe Segue and Mark de Clive-Lowe are working on a collabo project The Politik. Judging by the "High Priestess" track alone, it sounds very promising.
All in all, a good night.

Crate-diggers know Galt MacDermot's music has been used on classic Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Run DMC and Busta Rhymes tracks.
Here's a trailer for a documentary on the Montreal-born composer. MacDermot is also putting in work with Madlib's brother Oh No.
Posted a while back about the Dwight Trible record that showcases new sounds coming out of L.A . Looks like Carlos Nino's putting together a compilation celebrating this underground movement.
Last but not least, I saw the excellent film La Haine at The Freshest hip-hop film festival in Toronto this past summer after managing not to see it for years. It definitely gives deep context to what's currently going on in Paris.
Check Obi's blog for a great insightful post on what's going on in France.
