Feel the Force
A few days ago, I had an exchange with EJ about the Dwight Trible and the Life Force Trio album Love Is The Answer. I definitely agree with him that the album is one that requires you to sit down and listen to without any interruptions or distractions, if only for the reason to appreciate Trible's amazing voice. Trible's voice and vocal approach as well as the links between jazz and hip-hop artists were topics of the recent discussion I had with Carlos Nino of the Life Force trio. Without Nino, the Love Is The Answer project, that brings jazz vocalist Trible in contact with the likes of Sa-Ra, Madlib and J-Dilla, would never have happened and his efforts are making the progressive sonic vibes currently coming out of the LA scene some of the most intriguing around.
Talking of progressive soulful sounds, DJ Sean Sax alerted me to the fact that Mark De Clive-Lowe will be touching down in the Toronto on November 4 with broken beat vocalist/songwriter Bembe Segue in tow. His Tide's Arising album is something I raved on about a few months back.
