Knapsack and My Beeper

Watching the new Little Brother video for "Lovin' It", there's a scene at the end when a car mows into a bunch of cardboard boxes with labels on them that are generally attributed to different types of hip-hop. Among those labels were "icy", "earthy" and "backpack".

It's hard to believe now, but it's funny to remember the backpack was once considered cool and not seen as a representative symbol of the underground, with people like Grand Puba regularly strapping one on. In this brief discussion I had with Buckshot, another once proud backpack wearer, he breaks down why he began wearing one in the first place.
