Out with the old...

We may be three days into 2005, but better late than never I guess.
Here was the Top 10 hip-hop list we put down over at Exclaim! magazine.
That list was created from a number of opinions, but I have my own personal lists to work on for other year-end round ups that i really need to get onto pronto. In the meantime I've read a whole bunch of good lists that give it up to Kanye , Kanye and Kanye again, but there was obviously a lot of other good hip-hop out there last year.

In terms of things I was feeling from a T-dot angle, Kardinal Offishall kept his name out there with the Kill Bloodclott Bill mixtape and K-OS seemed to fully realize the potential of Exit, with the top to bottom heatery of Joyful Rebellion that pushed things forward. Special mentions have to go out to Pangea Project , who probably released the most slept-on hip-hop album in the city.
The crews who put out dope mixtapes are too numerous to name, but their hustle is helping keep the hungry vibe in the T-dot hip-hop scene going.

One of the best videos from a Toronto hip-hop artist wasn't even filmed here. Somali-Canadian MC K'naan's "Soobax" video, is one of those arresting visuals that made me stop what I was doing. Looking forward to seeing what his album due for later this year will touch upon.

In terms of what else to look forward to, there are a lot of things, but I am really intrigued to see what will happen with the Big Black Lincoln project Saukrates is heading up. Maybe after that he can finally get that album out. As his latest track states, it's Saukrates season. It's been time.
