Amp-ed Up
Yesterday down at Toronto's Harbourfront Amp Fiddler performed a pretty dope show for the diverse crowd in attendance. While it got off to an auspicious start with Amp tripping and almost falling on his face over a speaker during the first song, the show ended up being very worthwhile. While Amp Fiddler's entire band was pretty good, special props should go to Stephanie McKay who was actually one of Amp's backing singers for the gig. For those who don't know she put out one of the most criminally underrated albums last year, simply entitled McKay. While it got some props in the UK, (it was recorded in my hometown of Bristol with Portishead's Geoff Barrow), it didn't get a good push in North America at all. She told me after the show she's working to finish an album by the end of the year. In the meantime if you need to play catch up, check out a sampler of her "McKay" album.
